Demarcus Lawrence was a cornerstone player fo the Dallas Cowboys from 2014-2024. As one of the best defensive ends of his generation, Lawrence was a crucial piece for a bunch of pretty good Cowboys teams.

But, the Cowboys always fell short in the playoffs during his tenure, as they have since the mid-1990s. Lawrence left the franchise this week after 11 years to head to Seattle, and he cited those playoff failures as the reason for doing so.

Lawrence, a four-time Pro Bowl selection, missed most of the 2024 season due to an early-season lisfranc injury that cost him 13 games. But, before the injury, he was better than he’d been in years, as he had three sacks through four games to give him 61.5 for his career.

Dallas made the playoffs six times in his career, but were only 3-6 in those appearances, never making it past the Divisional Round. That has to be frustrating, especially since some of those teams were pretty darn good.

At 32, Lawrence knows that time is running out for him to get a Super Bowl, and he moved on from Dallas during free agency this year. He signed with the Seattle Seahawks in free agency on a three-year, $32.5 million deal. And, on the way out of Dallas, he threw the Cowboys under the bus. Here’s NFL.com with more.

> Having signed with the Seattle Seahawks, Lawrence believes a Super Bowl is in reach for him now, a goal he thinks would have been unreachable had he re-signed with the Cowboys.

> “Change of scenery is always good, but Dallas is my home,” Lawrence said Thursday in an interview with Hawk Blogger. “Made my home there, my family lives there. I’m forever gonna be there, but I know for sure I’m not going to win a Super Bowl there. So, yeah … we here.”

If you’re a Cowboys fan, that cannot sound good.
