Spurs Make Massive Decision on Former Kings Star Guard

The Sacramento Kings have had an interesting season thus far as they are currently fighting for their playoff lives with the regular season winding down.

Of course, the Kings have made some major organizational changes this season that began in December when they fired head coach Mike Brown. They then traded away their superstar guard De'Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs at the trade deadline.

Since the trade, the Kings have been solid as they currently sit ninth in the Western Conference standings with a 33-31 record.

The Spurs on the other hand, have not had as much success as they had hoped for since acquiring Fox at the trade deadline, and they made a massive decision regarding the star guard on Thursday.

According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Fox will undergo season-ending surgery on Tuesday for tendon damage in his left pinkie.

Of course, Fox suffered the injury during training camp in October with the Kings and with the Spurs season basically already over, they decided to shut him down for the rest of the season and allow him to get the surgery so that he can be ready for the start of next season.

This is massive news for the Spurs and one that is not entirely surprising. San Antonio is already set to be without their star center Victor Wembanyama for the rest of the season due to a blood clot, so they thought that this would be the perfect time to shut down Fox.

By doing this, the Spurs are basically tanking the rest of their season away and it will also allow for younger players such as Stephon Castle to receive more playing time down the stretch.

The good news for the Spurs is that Fox will be recovered fully by the start of next season as San Antonio tries to end their long playoff drought.
