Cardinals free agent DL Naquan Jones lands with Chargers

Defensive lineman Naquan Jones has signed with the Los Angeles Chargers after playing 12 games for the Arizona Cardinals in 2024.

Jones was signed off the Miami Dolphins’ practice squad last September after starting defensive tackle Justin Jones suffered a season-ending triceps injury.

He had previously played four games for Arizona in 2023, having started his career with the Tennessee Titans, where now-Cardinals general manager Monti Ossenfort was then serving as director of player personnel.

In 2024, Jones played in all but one of the final 13 games (Week 9 vs. Chicago Bears), accumulating 27 tackles, four for a loss, four quarterback hits and 3.0 sacks, two of which came over his first three games in the lineup.

How is Cardinals’ DL room looking without Naquan Jones in the mix?

His departure will be smoothed by the Cardinals acquiring pass rusher Josh Sweat and interior presence Dalvin Tomlinson.

Arizona has built up around the front, too, with new linebackers Akeem Davis-Gaither and Mykal Walker in the mix.

The four additions supplement returning defensive players, such as L.J. Collier and Baron Browning.
