TOKYO -- China hosted Russian and Iranian officials in Beijing on Friday as Tehran's nuclear program comes under renewed international scrutiny.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu, who chaired the meeting, was expected to discuss Iran's nuclear issue and other topics of mutual interest, according to Chinese state broadcaster CCTV. Russia was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov, while Iran sent Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi.
