Rio Ferdinand has opened up on how he used to celebrate with his Leeds United teammates.
Ferdinand joined the Whites in 2000 for a then-reported British record transfer fee of £18million. The former defender made 73 appearances for Leeds before leaving to join Manchester United in July 2002 for £30m.
The ex-England international was regarded at his peak as one of Europe's best centre-backs, having gone on to win 15 trophies at Old Trafford before moving to QPR in 2014, where he retired a year later. The 46-year-old has plenty of good memories throughout his stellar career, including at Leeds.
And Ferdinand has now reflected on his previous days at Elland Road, recalling how he and his teammates would be "straight on the town" to celebrate after wins.
“When I was at Leeds all those years ago, a club that hadn’t been used to being in Europe and then had some amazing nights,” he told TNT Sports when discussing how Aston Villa's players may pass the time now that they won't be back in action for 18 days.
“We used to go out straight on the town after a game. What do they do to enjoy themselves?”
The current Leeds squad will be fully focused on Championship promotion as they seek a return to the Premier League. Daniel Farke's side sit two points clear at the top of the table with nine games left to play.
Leeds are next in action away at QPR tomorrow lunchtime (12:30pm kick-off) before hosting Swansea City two weeks later on Saturday, March 29 after the international break.
