Spanish press react to Bruno Fernandes hat-trick performance for Manchester United vs Real Sociedad

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes scored his second ever hat-trick for the club, leading a win over Real Sociedad.

Bruno Fernandes has led for Manchester United all season with a series of committed performances, laced with high quality.

Fernandes has scored 15 goals and provided 14 assists for the club this season, a staggering output in an under performing team.

Three of those goals came against Sociedad, two penalties and one impressive low right-footed strike.

This was Fernandes’ first hat-trick since a treble against Leeds on the first day of the season in 2021-22.

Spanish press praise Bruno Fernandes

Bruno Fernandes was at the heart of everything Manchester United did, and this team would be lost without the captain.

Real Sociedad may moan about the refereeing decisions, yet their two goals across both legs came from fortuitous penalties.

Spanish newspaper El Pais was among the outlets in the country to praise the Manchester United captain.

Describing his third goal, the newspaper wrote: “United penalized them on a counterattack that Bruno finished off with a hat trick that shows him as what he is: the best player on his team.”

Their report also praised the way United bounced back immediately from conceding an early penalty, writing: “Amorim’s players launched themselves like tigers in search of an equalizer.”

La Provincia wrote that it was Bruno Fernandes who eliminated Real Sociedad, with Sport commenting that the United star ‘applied the maximum penalty’ to the La Liga side’s defensive errors.

Local newspaper Noticias de Gipuzkoa blasted ‘scandalous and incomprehensible refereeing’ for helping Manchester United on the way to victory.

A very upset editorial blasted the referee as a ‘coward’, while also finding space to commend United’s captain, writing: “Bruno, an imperial footballer.”

Ruben Amorim was happy with United performance

Ruben Amorim was pleased with Manchester United’s performance, with the Red Devils doing more than enough to reach the quarter-finals.

He told a press conference: “The performance was really good. I think the response has been great, it was a good week. We show a little bit of the future.

“We talk about the problems of the present and give a good exhibition to our fans to complete the week.

“We are learning about us, about different competitions, how to win games. Sometimes how to draw games, to win some points. So, it was a tough week, but a good week.”
