Stephen Curry's legacy has already been sterling for a while, but on Thursday against the Sacramento Kings, he added something extra to it and raised the bar even higher.
The Golden State Warriors superstar hit the 4,000th 3-pointer of his NBA career in a 130-104 win over the Sacramento Kings. The Warriors are now 13-1 with new star acquisition Jimmy Butler in the lineup, and some feel they could be dark horse championship contenders.
During the 2021-22 season, Curry made his 2,974th trey to become the league's all-time career leader in that category at Madison Square Garden. After Thursday's game, he spoke to Allie LaForce of Turner Sports and compared the two historic moments.
"It was a special moment, obviously to do it at home," Curry said. "The 2,974 record in New York was great because it was an unbelievable environment at Madison Square [Garden], but to do it in front of the home fans... I felt the energy, it was special."

Even though he will turn 37 years of age on Friday, March 14, Curry is still at or near the top of his game. LaForce asked him about reaching an even more lofty milestone: 5,000 made 3-pointers.
"I'm in the moment," Curry responded. "2,974 felt like an eternity ago. Being out here with this fresh milestone is pretty cool. Who knows... But I'm gonna stay in the present right now."
The future Hall of Fame reaching this latest milestone is trending on social media, and users from across X (formerly Twitter) have been commenting on it.
"He completely changed the NBA…." one user said.
"Curry had 1000 in 4-5 years," another user said.
"What a legendary achievement, 4,000 threes is just unreal-Steph keeps redefining the game, The energy at Chase Center must've been electric," another fan said.
"Warriors can never replace this legend," an additional fan said.
One fan also wished Cury a happy early birthday.
"The greatest to ever shoot the ball, congrats curry on 4,000 and happy early birthday!" he said.
Another fan also commented on how Curry has always been a class act.
"Stand up dude too!" that fan said.
Earlier in the season, it looked like 16 years of wear and tear were perhaps finally catching up with Curry. But he seems revitalized ever since Golden State landed Butler, a six-time All-Star forward, in a blockbuster trade last month. Coming into Thursday, Curry had averaged 30.5 points a game on 47.3% overall shooting and 40.5% from 3-point range in his previous 16 games.
He went just 4-of-9 in 30 minutes on Thursday versus the Kings, but it didn't matter, given how lopsided the game was. The Warriors are starting to defeat teams with ease, just like they did during their championship years not too long ago.
