On 12 March, Consul General Li Nan visited Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council in Northern Ireland, UK, and met with Mayor Cllr. McQuillan. The two sides exchanged views on deepening cooperation with China and other topics.

Consul General Li said that China's two sessions have just closed in Beijing, and China's gross domestic product (GDP) in 2024 rose to 134.9 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5 percent. China ranks among the world's fastest-growing major economies. The meeting made it clear that China will further comprehensively deepen reform and expand high-level opening to the outside world. As an important tourist city in Northern Ireland, Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is rich in cultural and tourism resources and has great potential for cooperation with China. China's economic development will bring new opportunities for countries and regions including the UK and Northern Ireland. The Consulate General is willing to continue to play its role as a bridge to promote fruitful cooperation between the two sides.
Cllr. McQuillan welcomed Mr Li's visit, introduced the city's advantageous industries and development plan, and expressed the importance of developing friendly relations with China and promoting cooperation in various fields to a higher level.

During the visit, Mr Li also visited The Old Bushmills Distillery Co Ltd.
