Manchester United look to have missed out on one of their priority targets and Chelsea have swept in, already agreeing a deal for the summer.
United have been scouring the globe ahead of the summer transfer window to find top young talent to secure long-lasting success at Old Trafford.
However, with the current squad being assembled for Erik ten Hag’s system, with the exception of Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven, now the club’s recruitment team are scouting stars to fit with Ruben Amorim’s tactics.
One of those stars was Sporting Lisbon ace Geovany Quenda, the 17-year-old right winger who played under Amorim before the Portuguese manager moved to Manchester.
This season Quenda has grabbed two goals and eight assists in 43 games helping Sporting hold the top spot in the Liga Portugal and get into the Semi Finals of the Taca de Portugal.
United have been monitoring the youngster since the summer as a perfect addition to the right-flank.
However, it now seems they’re too late, having missed out on their young priority target as their Premier League rivals have beaten them to his signature.

Chelsea sign Geovany Quenda
Fabrizio Romano has revealed the signing, with Chelsea agreeing terms with Sporting Lisbon for Geovany Quenda to move in 2026.
With Quenda being only 17 years old until April, the winger was not available to be bought by a UK team in the winter due to Brexit laws, prohibiting the signing of anyone from outside of the UK under the age of 18.
However, Chelsea appear to have sealed a deal, lining up his transfer for the future.
The King of the Transfer Market explains that a medical assessment has already been completed after The Blues planned and completed the deal in secret.
The two clubs have reportedly agreed terms whilst Quenda is keen on the project at Chelsea and specifically Enzo Maresca’s plans.
