After securing Manchester United’s slot in the next round of the Europa League with a hattrick against Real Sociedad, Bruno Fernandes has responded to comments from Sir Jim Ratcliffe criticising the squad.
In a recent interview, Ratcliffe labelled some of the squad “not good enough or overpaid”.
Addressing the comments, manager Ruben Amorim refused to pull his punches, saying: “I think if we are being honest in this moment, everybody – me, all the players – we are underperforming this season.”
However, after a 4-1 win over Sociedad last night, The Red Devils have a renewed confidence which they intend to keep hold of.

Bruno Fernandes stands up against Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s comments
The Telegraph has now reported the club’s captain has responded to these comments, being the first player to do so.
Speaking after the game, Fernandes commented: “It’s not nice to hear certain things obviously.”
He continued: “I don’t think that any player likes to hear criticism or things that are talked about you, that you’re not good enough or you’re overpaid or whatever.
“Everyone has their own contract. The club agrees to do the contracts at the time you come here or at the time you do a new contract or whatever and it’s about yourself proving that you can be important for the club.”
United will no doubt be hoping that their impressive win will be the start of a new run of form, grabbing a strong victory despite significant injuries.
Amorim’s men will be facing Leicester away from home this weekend as they hope to grab three points to take them to 13th depending on if Tottenham beat 10th place Fulham.
