Ireland’s Under-21 squad has been named for two upcoming international friendlies against Scotland and Hungary this month.
Head Coach Jim Crawford has selected a 23-man squad, as the team prepares for September’s Under-21 EURO Qualifiers.
The young Boys in Green will face Scotland on March 21 before taking on Hungary on March 24, both games taking place at the Pinatar Arena in Spain.
Crawford has included three first-time call-ups, with a Manchester United midfielder among them.
Brentford’s Conor McManus and Nottingham Forest loanee Joe Gardner also join the squad for the first time.
Meanwhile, Mason Melia and Franco Umeh return after missing the last international break due to injury.
Jack Moorhouse named in Ireland Under-21 squad
For United fans, all eyes will be on Jack Moorhouse, who has earned his spot in the squad.
If given minutes, the youngster will hope to impress on the international stage, furthering his development.
Strong performances could boost his chances of breaking into United’s senior team, especially in rotation games.
Moorhouse has been named on the bench for the United senior team on several ocassions in recent times, having reportedly impressed manager Ruben Amorim.
Ireland’s Under-21 coaching staff has also been confirmed for the campaign.
Paul McShane and Stephen Rice continue as assistant coaches, while Rene Gilmartin remains as goalkeeping coach.
