After ex-En Vogue Star Dawn Robinson’s reveals shock living situation she gets surprise offer of help

THE EX-husband of former En Vogue singer Dawn Robinson has offered her a job in the hospitality industry after learning she has been living in her car for several years.

Robinson, 55, revealed in a vlog this week that she has been living in her vehicle since 2020 after falling out with her mother and leaving their Las Vegas home.

She later stayed with a manager in Los Angeles, who covered her hotel expenses for eight months before financial concerns forced her to seek alternative living arrangements.

Despite her situation, Robinson expressed that she had embraced car living and found a sense of freedom in it.

“This is not like, ‘Oh my God, poor Dawn, she’s living in her car and it’s terrible,’” Robinson said in her video. “I’m learning about who I am. I’m learning myself as a person, as a woman.”

Upon hearing of Robinson’s living conditions, her ex-husband, Andre Allen, reached out through TMZ to offer her a job in hospitality sales.

Allen, who was married to Robinson from 2003 to 2010, previously worked in the music industry as part of the R&B group IV Xample but later transitioned to a career with Hilton Brands. He noted that leaving the music business “saved his life and finances” and believes Robinson should consider a similar path.

Allen also shared that he has loaned money to struggling artists and witnessed industry peers fall into dire living conditions.

He expressed concerns that Robinson would not be able to sustain herself financially through music alone and encouraged her to take on a stable position where her charisma could serve her well.

While Allen’s offer aims to help Robinson transition out of homelessness, the singer maintains that she is content with her lifestyle choice.

“It was the right thing to do, I didn’t regret it,” she said, recalling moments of beauty and peace she has experienced while living in her car.

Robinson rose to fame in the early 1990s as a founding member of En Vogue alongside Terry Ellis, Cindy Herron, and Maxine Jones.

The group became one of the most successful female R&B acts of all time, selling over 20 million records and earning seven Grammy nominations.

Their hits include Free Your Mind, Don’t Let Go (Love), Giving Him Something He Can Feel, and Hold On.

Billboard ranked them as the second most successful female group of the 1990s.
