Paul Merson has shared his prediction ahead of West Ham United travelling to Everton in the Premier League this weekend.
The Hammers have had a poor Premier League season that has seen them languishing in the 16th place with just 33 points.
While they remain 16 points clear of the drop zone, this was not the expected outcome after their £155million spending in the summer transfer window.
They face Everton, who are also on same points as the Irons but with a better goal difference. David Moyes, the current Everton boss has managed to turn the Toffees’ fortunes around, guiding them to four wins and four draws in last nine games.
Graham Potter, on the other side, is trying to steady the ship and course their way out of the turbulent waters. Potter has won three games and lost four since taking over the reins but has only marginally improved West Ham’s state.

West Ham face tough test against improving Everton
West Ham will travel to Everton on the back of a 1-0 home defeat to Newcastle United. Potter’s side have suffered four defeats in last seven games and are hoping to claw their way back up in the Premier League standings.
Goodison Park has been a happy hunting ground for the Hammers as they have won three of their last four encounters at Everton’s home stadium.

Hammers will look to create some distance between them and Everton as both are tied on 33 points. However, pundit Merson is unconvinced regarding West Ham’s chances against the Toffees.
Speaking to Sportskeeda [13 March], Merson said: “I do think West Ham are a better team away from home. When they are not under pressure in front of their own fans, the Hammers tend to do well.
“But I don’t think we’ll be seeing any of that at Goodison Park on Saturday. I am backing Everton to secure maximum three points and a clean sheet.”
Merson has predicted a 2-0 win for the Merseysiders, which means Potter could be handed his fifth defeat in eight games, posing serious concerns about the state of the club.

West Ham must make contract decisions
Like Everton, West Ham can have PSR troubles in the summer and they have a very little amount of money to spend in the summer.
Before they enter the summer transfer window, the Irons need to sort out the contract situation of some of the stars at the club. Strikers Michail Antonio and Danny Ings are out of contract at the end of the season.
Experienced full-backs Vladimir Coufal and Aaron Cresswell are also set to become free agents and backup keeper Lukasz Fabianski’s deal is also set to expire.
While there have been private discussions of offer Antonio a new one-year deal, it seems like the Hammers are letting Ings leave to cut down their wage bill.
Regardless of their faltering Premier League campaign this term, West Ham face a huge summer transfer window with some important decisions to make regarding players’ futures.
