Since the start of 2025, FC Barcelona have been emphasising a lot on ensuring renewals of some of the players who are fundamental to the long-term project of the club.
Their efforts in this regard have already borne fruit in the form of successful renewals of players like Ronald Araujo, Pedri, Gavi, and Pau Cubarsi. Similarly, the defender Inigo Martinez’s contract renewal was also officially announced by the Blaugranes yesterday.
However, their work in this regard is still not complete, and SPORT reports that the next player whose continuity will be officially announced by Barcelona will be the striker Robert Lewandowski.
The Catalans had already planned for a four-year stay of the Polish striker in their team when they signed him from Bayern Munich back in 2022.
However, there was a clause in his contract that would have allowed the Blaugrana club to unilaterally terminate his contract if he was unable to play at least 55% of games for 45 minutes in his third season, which is 2024-25.

The Pole had reached this milestone in the league game against Rayo Vallecano, and thus his automatic renewal clause was activated.
However, his renewal is not expected to be officially announced by Barcelona till the end of the upcoming international break.
Meanwhile, the Catalans are also working on the renewals of two more players. One of them is Lamine Yamal, whose new contract cannot be signed till he reaches 18 years of age this summer.
His agent, Jorge Mendes, and the Blaugranes are negotiating a new contract that will bring his salary to a level that reflects his status as one of the biggest stars in European football.
Similarly, negotiations with Frenkie de Jong are also going on, now with more optimism about an agreement, especially following Hansi Flick’s renewed confidence in the Dutchman.
He already has a new offer from Barcelona on the table, but if an agreement is not reached in the coming months, he will be put on the market next summer to avoid his departure for free in 2026.
