'Disaster': Jamie Carragher has just warned TFG against making a huge mistake at Everton

Everton have the potential to make some exciting moves over the upcoming summer transfer window.

It may have to be a busy summer for Everton, with the club now preparing to wave goodbye to a number of their players coming to the end of their deals.

David Moyes is keen to see more players signed at Everton following their quiet January transfer window.

The Toffees look good to avoid the drop this season, with Premier League football and finances set to be taken into Bramley-Moore Dock.

With money no longer being an issue, the Friedkins want to make a statement signing in the summer to open up the new stadium.

However, they have now been warned by former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher against making what he feels would be a huge transfer mistake.

Jamie Carragher thinks Everton could make huge transfer mistake

Everton are keen to bring Richarlison back to Merseyside this summer, with his time at Tottenham Hotspur coming under scrutiny.

The forward made a £60m move from Everton to Spurs back in 2022, but it has not been the move which he will have dreamed of.

Speaking on Redmen TV, Carragher has issued a warning to Everton against signing Richarlison after what has been a torrid few years in north London.

“Every team that has a good striker, you can’t have unbelievable back-up for them. Harry Kane at Tottenham, who are you going to buy to sit on the bench?” Carragher said.

“Antonio Conte tried it by bringing in Richarlison for £60m, and it’s been a disaster the actual transfer fee.

“He probably thought he could get away with it. He had [Heung-min] Son on the left and Kane up front. Richarlison can do both, but Richarlison just sat on the bench every week. Unless they’re getting an injury, they’re missing games and at the end you’ve spent £60m on a guy who’s on the bench.”

It is not just his transfer fee which marks a disaster for the Brazilian, Richarlison has suffered massively through injuries.

His time at Tottenham has never really gotten off the ground, and when it showed signs last season with a fine run of form, he picked up another injury.

Richarlison looks set for summer exit at Tottenham

As his struggles continue, it looks as if the best solution for all parties this summer would be for the 27-year-old to move on.

Richarlison wants to remain in the Premier League if he is to make the move away from N17.

That could open the door for Everton to make a move, with Tottenham looking for around £40m to sign Richarlison.

But it is a huge risk for any club who are showing an interest in the Brazilian.

A return to Merseyside would certainly be welcomed by many fans, but the Friedkins will have to evaluate whether this is a decision being made with the heart or the head.
