Following the renewal of Inigo Martinez that was officially announced yesterday, the next player whose renewal FC Barcelona are expected to announce is the striker Robert Lewandowski.
The Pole has already reached the number of games that will allow him to get an automatic one-year renewal. However, the fact that he is 36 years of age means the Catalans will still have to look for a long-term replacement for him.
For this purpose, the Blaugranes have already been linked with some highly interesting names. But according to Fichajes, another exciting name has entered this list, i.e., the Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez, who has already offered himself to Barcelona.
The Uruguayan forward, who is €65m-rated by Transfermarkt, is not going through his best run of form at the Merseyside club, and his importance in the Reds’ team has declined since the departure of Jurgen Klopp and the arrival of Arne Slot on the bench.
Furthermore, he was unable to lay a stronger claim for prominence as he missed one of the penalties in the shoot out vs Paris Saint Germain that resulted in his side’s elimination from the UEFA Champions League in the Round of 16, despite being one of the favorites to win the competition and having finished the League Phase at the top of the table.
In such a context, the striker is looking for a move to Spain, where he previously played with Almeria, before becoming a star with Benfica. He has also long admired Barcelona and thus would be keen to join Flick’s side.
However, the Blaugranes themselves are not too keen to have him in their team, as they believe his tally of 7 goals and 7 assists in 39 games do not support his candidacy to be the long-term heir of Lewandowski.
Furthermore, they will have to shell out a significant amount of money to sign him since he has a contract with Liverpool till 2028.
Thus, despite receiving his offer, the Blaugranes will make a decision about his signing only after evaluating other possible names that can be signed.
