NFL Rumors: ‘Sleeper’ Team Swoops In As Cooper Kupp Favorite

Cooper Kupp could come to a free agency decision as early as Friday.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported as much in the wee hours of the morning, sharing developing news that not only updated us on the timing of a potential deal but also the expected landing spot.

The Dallas Cowboys have (unsurprisingly) emerged as the favorites.

Dallas is “working on” a deal with the veteran wide receiver, according to Schefter — essentially popping into the sweepstakes at the last minute to become the likeliest to land his services. The Athletic’s Dianna Russini also reported the decision was expected on Friday, revealing that the Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks remain interested.

Kupp, 31, hasn’t been on the open market very long, but the expectation always was that he’d sign quickly. Dallas makes sense as a potential landing spot, as he should be able to extend his career by serving in a lesser role alongside a young superstar wide receiver like CeeDee Lamb.

The New England Patriots were expected to be interested, but that has all but subsided in the days since Kupp was released by the Los Angeles Rams.

Dallas appears as if it will become the new home of the NFL’s most-recent receiving triple-crown winner.
