Lewis-Skelly broke out of the Arsenal academy this season, making his senior debut in September’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City.
The Islington-born teenager quickly became a regular in Mikel Arteta’s squad, picking up 13 Premier League and six Champions League appearances for the Gunners.
At international level, the Hale End graduate has regularly featured for the Young Lions, representing England from Under-16s to Under-19s.
However, following his impressive rise, Tuchel has opted to promote Lewis-Skelly straight to the senior side, bypassing both the Under-20s and Under-21s.
Rising to the England first team ahead of schedule, he was selected ahead of Ben Chilwell, Tyrick Mitchell and in-form Djed Spence, while Lewis Hall and Luke Shaw are sidelined with injuries.
Explaining the decision on Friday, Tuchel revealed he took a ‘parental and protective approach’ when fast-tracking Lewis-Skelly’s development.
“With injuries, especially with the latest injury to Lewis Hall, we ran out of left footers who can play left-back,” said Tuchel.
“We were impressed with Myles since he started. He became a regular for Arsenal – the second best team in the country at the moment – very quickly. Mikel Arteta picks him regularly. He’s nothing but impressive.
“I can understand that it feels we have fast-forwarded a career which is already on a fast pace.

“I can assure you that the talks in the last days and weeks had a bit of a parental and protective vibe.
"Maybe we should not nominate him to protect him a little bit and let him go to the Under-21s to breathe a little bit out of the spotlight. Is it maybe our responsibility to not take him?
“But in the end, with the injuries alongside the quality and maturity he has shown, we decided to take him.
“If we have young and exciting players like Myles in our squad, it is important that he has the guidance and role models and players like Jordan Henderson at his side to take care of him.”
Fellow Arsenal youngster Ethan Nwaneri missed out on the senior squad but was named in Lee Carsley’s Under-21s group for the first time.
