Let’s just begin with a refresher:
Imagine being these two dudes. Trevon Brazile, destined for the NBA, fouls the Rebels on a lay up, giving [Ole Miss](https://www.redcuprebellion.com) a chance to tie it at 80, which they proceed to do. Redemption finds Brazile as he is fouled on an offensive rebound, only for him to absolutely clank two attempts to give his team the lead and likely the win.
Then there is Sean Pedulla. Four fouls in the contest, 0-6 shooting from three and commits a crucial turnover when his team was down one in the waning seconds of the game. On the second missed free throw, your teammate seeks you out, you dribble down the court and drain a cold-blooded dagger over the out-stretched arm of none other than Trevon Brazile.
Here’s the 1-3-1 breakdown of the big Rebel win.
**1 Player of the Game**
------------------------
**Malik Dia**
Malik Dia hates Arkansas, probably. Dia had a hot start to SEC play this season which included a 21 point performance against Arkansas on January 8th in Fayetteville. He saw the Hogs in front of him again yesterday and scored the first seven points of the contest, helping Ole Miss jump out to a 9-0 lead. He finished the contest as the game-high scorer with 19 points while adding 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Ole Miss will need his A game against Auburn later today.
**3 Key Stats**
---------------
I am going to do this a little unconventionally. When you dive into the numbers, Ole Miss had NO BUSINESS winning this basketball game. Arkansas had more points off turnovers, more second chance points, more fast break points, won the rebound battle by six, made six more free throws on 12 more attempts.
Arkansas turned it over four more times than the Rebels and Ole Miss ended up with 8 more field goal attempts which led to four more made baskets. Not sure I have ever seen a box score look like this and the result be what it was. March MADNESS.
**1 Important Observation**
---------------------------
If Ole Miss loses all of those box score areas against Auburn, there is little doubt that the Rebel’s SEC Tourney run will end on Friday. 11 turnovers is tied for the second most in an SEC contest this season. They are now 3-5 against SEC opponents when turning the ball over 10+ times. Controlling the boards and the ball will be crucial if Ole Miss wants to advance beyond the Quarterfinals.
