Prince William was forced to pick between Scotland hero John McGinn and former Celtic legend Virgil Van Dijk in a tough Q&A. Aston Villa star Tyrone Mings questioned the future king about the perfect footballers on key skills.
The Prince of Wales revealed his deep knowledge of the popular game in the light-hearted session, choosing David Beckham over Zinedine Zidane and Lionel Messi over Cristiano Ronaldo.
Mings asked William, who is a diehard supporter of Villa: "I'm looking for your perfect footballer made up of some key footballing attributes from players anywhere in the world, all-time."
When asked about the player with the best strength, Prince William picked Liverpool defender Van Dijk, knocking back the suggestion of McGinn in this category.

Mings asked William in the Sun's Q and A: "I'm looking for your perfect footballer made up of some key footballing attributes from players anywhere in the world, all-time."
When asked about the player with the best strength, William said: "I reckon Virgil van Dijk. All time is quite a hard one though. How far do we go back?"
Tyrone Mings interjects with a suggestion: "[Villa's] John McGinn?"
William replies: "John McGinn? No, not for that one, no!"

But the future King was almost left scratching his head when faced with the ultimate question dividing fans of the sport across the globe: "Who is the best, Messi or Ronaldo?"
He also revealed why he chose David Beckham over another legend, Zinedine Zidane, in a lighthearted but high-pressure game. William said: "That's gonna hurt. Becks, I think. I think Becks might kill me if I don't say him. I think maybe longevity. I feel like Becks had a slightly longer career than Zidane, that's probably it."

Despite scratching his head over the ultimate footie question, he explained he chose Messi over Ronaldo simply because Messi won a World Cup. He said: "For me, the only thing is, he's won a World Cup. That's literally the only thing. Otherwise, they are so neck and neck."
He joked after the session about his answers and thoughts afterwards, saying: "I will be like, 'Why did I say that, dammit?' It's like asking an artist to say which is their favourite painting, or what's your favourite music choice, I can't tell you, I can't do that."
