Arsenal should be focusing more on finishing in the top four than the Premier League title.
Arsenal and their Premier League title race
Former England and Manchester United legend Roy Keane has shared his thoughts on Arsenal’s run for the title. He thinks that they should be more worried about completing the campaign in the top four. They should leave the thought of catching **Liverpool**for the league crown.
The league leaders are currently fifteen points ahead of the Gunners in the points table. After the north London side’s 1-1 draw with Man Utd, Keane had doubts about their mentality.
Speaking to Sky Sports Roy said that Arsenal’s Premier League title hopes are over. They should be more worried about securing Champions League qualification than catching Liverpool.
Declan Rice’s equalizer ruled out Bruno Fernandes’ free-kick in their 1-1 draw at the Old Trafford. That fixture’s result has increased the gap to 15 points between them and the Reds.
Generally, a top four finish is enough to earn a Champions League spot. Although that could increase to five spots this term, depending on the performances of English clubs in Europe this season.
In their Champions League RO16 game against they thrashed PSV Eindhoven 7-1 in the first-leg. However, they have managed to score only once in their last three Premier League games.
The north London side’s draw at Old Trafford on last Sunday
Mikel Arteta’s side had a lot of possession against the Red Devils in that fixture. They still found it hard to create chances. In the 74th minute, Rice got the equalizer with great finish. Also not to forget about David Raya’s brilliant saves to keep the game at level.
Keane on Sky Sports said: “If you don’t have cutting edge and you’re not scoring any goals, forget about closing any gap on Liverpool.
“You should be more worried about teams coming up behind you.”
