Chelsea travel to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon to face rivals Arsenal, and Robert Sanchez will be starting in goal for the visitors.
It’s been a busy week already for Chelsea, qualifying for the Conference League quarter-finals on Thursday night by beating Copenhagen at home in the second leg.
Next, the Blues finish before March’s international break with an important Premier League fixture on the road.
During Chelsea’s inconsistent run in 2025, the goalkeeper position has been a glaring issue because we’ve seen head coach Enzo Maresca frequently rotate the starter.
Chelsea could go big to sign a new goalkeeper, along with another centre-back and striker, when the summer transfer window comes around.

Enzo Maresca confirms Robert Sanchez is Chelsea’s starting goalkeeper in the Premier League ahead of Arsenal
Maresca has confirmed that Robert Sanchez will start in goal against Arsenal after Filip Jorgensen played in midweek against Copenhagen.
Even though there has been a lot of rotation in recent weeks, the plan is for Sanchez to be the league starter for the rest of the season.

“It will be Robert playing against Arsenal,” Maresca said via The Evening Standard.
“Since we start, the idea was not to change goalkeeper – but sometimes you have to modify, you have to be flexible in your idea…
“I think Robert needed some days off or at least to rest his head mentally. And now he is back we are hopefully not going to change until the end [of the season], also because I said many times we are quite happy with both goalkeepers.”

In history, any successful team usually consists of a first-choice goalkeeper to trust every single game.
While Maresca’s publicly trying to back both shot-stoppers, it’s pretty obvious to us that he doesn’t trust either of them.
Regardless of the 2024/25 season finishes, Chelsea simply must go out and find themselves an upgrade in the goalkeeper position before the next campaign.
