The singer has released a debut album, Dopamine, and started a relationship that she has said makes her very happy—and even inspires her music. Her fiancé, DK Metcalf, is a successful football player (first for the Seahawks, now for the Steelers), and he and Normani have been together for over a year.
Here’s their complete relationship timeline so far.

Normani was even more open about her relationship in an interview with Rolling Stone ahead of the release of her record Dopamine.
“I’m happy. I am very happy. Definitely an answered prayer,” Normani said of her personal life. “I’ve experienced a lot with relationships. I’m a real lover girl. I wear my heart on my sleeve, and finding space where that’s reciprocated feels good. I like to see myself happy. I really do.”
She also said that the Seattle Seahawks wide receiver “inspired a few [songs on the album].”

Normani and Metcalf revealed they had gotten engaged when Metcalf revealed he had been traded from the Seattle Seahawks to the Pittsburgh Steelers. During a press conference, he asked his fiancée to show off her ring and detailed how he popped the question.
“My family and her family was in Houston,” he said. “It was my sister’s spring break and just thought about getting the whole family together for a big kumbaya and joining our families with the ring.”
He got creative with the proposal itself: “I started sending her flowers with a story and then the last letter on the flower was ‘Will you marry me?’ And she said yes.”
