It is well documented that Steven Gerrard never added a Premier League medal during his illustrious Liverpool career.
The Reds legend very rarely got the chance to play in teams as good as the current group Arne Slot is currently working with and as a result, the midfielder fell short on several occasions.
Gerrard had the opportunity to move to Chelsea under Jose Mourinho on several occasions throughout his career, where he would have certainly picked up a Premier League crown.
However, the Liverpool man decided to remain at his local club as he believed that meant more than winning medals elsewhere.
That decision may impact how Gerrard is viewed in the future by fans and pundits with Jamie Carragher believing Mohamed Salah is on the verge of surpassing the Liverpool legend as the Merseyside club’s greatest player.
Gerrard’s best chance to lift the Premier League came during the 2013/14 campaign and after missing out on the title to Man City, the former Reds captain made a statement that never came true.

Steven Gerrard’s Liverpool prediction that never came true
Having missed out on the Premier League during the 2008/09 season, Gerrard got the opportunity to compete for the title again in 2014.
However, Man City would pip Brendan Rodgers’ men to the finish line by two points, leaving Gerrard devastated on the final day of the season.

Speaking to Jamie Carragher on Sky Sports after the match with Newcastle, Gerrard expressed his sadness, however, the midfielder also made a statement that never came true as the Liverpool captain expected that team to grow and improve.
“Absolutely devasted, I can’t sugarcoat it. Personally gutted and gutted for the fans, they’ve been magnificent,” Gerrard said. “But we can’t be too down, it’s been a fantastic season and we need to bounce back next year and try and go one better.
“It’s took me until I’m 33 to get the experience of a proper title race, so the experience for these young lads is going to be vital. There’s a lot of ability in the squad, it’s growing and moving forward, so hopefully we can keep improving.
“I can certainly play at this level for another year, for sure because I feel so fit and so strong even though I am getting on. The idea for me is to carry on until my legs pack in. But I’ll know when the day comes, but it’s not here just yet.”
Liverpool’s disastrous 2014/15 campaign
Brad Jones recently stated that Liverpool players knew if Gerrard didn’t rate them and there would have been plenty in the 2014/15 squad.
Having lost Luis Suarez to Barcelona during the summer of 2014, Liverpool struggled massively without the Uruguayan striker and finished the Premier League campaign in sixth in Gerrard’s last season at the club.
Liverpool regressed massively after getting close to winning the Premier League the year before and the Reds would not win the English top flight before 2020.
Gerrard’s prediction never came true as Liverpool did not use their success from the 2013/14 campaign in the right way.
That 2014/15 campaign also robbed Liverpool fans of another year of Gerrard as the midfielder decided to leave as a result, meaning a partnership with Jurgen Klopp was very close to happening.
