**Liverpool head coach Arne Slot say he expects Ibrahima Konate to be back in training ahead of the Carabao Cup final this weekend.**
The France international was forced off with cramp against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night, but speaking in his pre-match conference, Slot suggested that the [**centre-back**](https://walkon.com/blog/liverpool-transfer-news-nico-schlotterbeck/) has suffered no ill effects.
“We didn’t train yesterday – we had a day off – and the day before was recovery. I expect him to train with us today, but let’s see how it is.”
If Konate does make it through Friday’s training session, he is likely to be named in the starting line up against Newcastle.
More Liverpool injury news
--------------------------
While there is a positive update on Konate, it appears that Trent Alexander-Arnold could be ruled out for several weeks after injuring his ankle versus PSG. Slot says there is still some hope the vice-captain could return before the end of the season but he won’t be fit to play at Wembley.
Joe Gomez has had surgery on a hamstring injury he sustained last month and it could keep him out until May. Conor Bradley’s return date is slightly sooner than that. The Northern Ireland international has a muscular problem but there is a chance he could make his comeback after the international break.
Konate’s future at Anfield
--------------------------
In addition to news about his fitness, there have been new reports in the French media about the centre-half’s future at Anfield. The defender has been offered a new contract but he has yet to sign on the dotted line.
It has now been claimed that Konate may not commit his future to the Reds as he favours a move to PSG. The 25-year-old will only have a year remaining on his current deal at the end of the season.
