Buyouts and replacements update the math for WVU's coaching staff

Spring football pressed pause for spring break, so what do you say we follow the money to pass the time and better understand and appreciate how West Virginia has gone about building its football staff?

Head coach Rich Rodriguez was promised no less than $5 million for his coaching staff, and even with the salaries for Chad Scott and Blaine Stewart off the books, the Mountaineers are above that at $5,035,000 with one position to fill.

Scott's replacement as the new running backs coach, Larry Porter, is has a one-year contract for $300,000, which is substantially lower than the $725,000 Scott was to make in the final year of his two-year contract. In addition, Scott or Texas owes WVU a buyout worth around $185,500.
