Manchester City are renaming the Etihad Stadium this weekend.

The club are celebrating City in the Community (CITC) at the crunch meeting with fellow European hopefuls Brighton in the Premier League. The club are recognising the work done all year round to help look after local residents.

As such, it's not merely 'Etihad Stadium' this weekend. Instead, supporters will be arriving at the 'City in the Community Etihad Stadium'.

Visitors arriving on local trams and buses will be greeted by the voice of City defender Ruben Dias, who has been actively involved with CITC. The defender met youngsters from local, Chorlton High School earlier this week and surprised one lucky student with tickets to the game.

The players will don special branded tops for their warm-up, which will later be donated, and the match will feature player images created by local primary school children.

In addition to providing memorable matchday experiences for CITC participants against Brighton, there has also been a relaunch of the charity's website and monthly prize draw. A new auction includes mascot spaces for a Manchester derby.

Michael Geary, CEO of CITC, expressed his enthusiasm: "We are delighted that Manchester City is once again showcasing its support for its charity on such a huge scale.", reports the Manchester Evening News.

"We are extremely passionate about engaging our fans and all the activities they'll see on Saturday have been designed to help raise levels of visibility and awareness of City in the Community."

"As well as the exciting participant experiences, we are pleased to have also donated free matchday tickets to local schoolchildren, who otherwise might not be able to experience an Etihad matchday.

"Special thanks must also go to all partners and suppliers who have helped to make today's match as impactful as possible. I hope that fans can join us and the club in celebrating our work to empower healthier lives through football."

Pep Guardiola knows his side face a tough test against Brighton

City have slipped to fifth ahead of Saturday’s clash with Brighton, who are just one point behind them and one of several clubs jostling for the European places.

“Brighton are one of the best clubs working on and off the pitch,” Pep Guardiola said at a press conference on Friday. “The position where they are right now is because they are doing many good things and they deserve to be there.

“And Bournemouth, and Aston Villa, and Newcastle, and maybe Fulham will be there – fantastic teams.

“It’s not a surprise, I have the feeling that they deserve it. They are really good, consistent, they have incredible weapons in the way they play. It’s a big fight. It’s not a disappointment to be here. It’s a challenge.

“If we are able to qualify for the Champions League, it would be a huge success from my point of view."
