DeMarcus Lawrence sends shot at Dallas Cowboys; Micah Parsons calls ex-teammate ‘clown’

While the Dallas Cowboys haven’t necessarily made the headline-grabbing moves in the early days of free agency, they did find a way into the news cycle late on Thursday night.

After departing the Cowboys for the first time in his 11-year career for the Seattle Seahawks in free agency on Wednesday, veteran defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence fired some shots at the organization in an interview with Seahawks content creator Brian Nemhauser.

“Dallas is my home,” Lawrence said. “Made my home there, my family lives there, I’m forever going to be there. I know for sure I’m not going to win a Super Bowl there.”

The interview clip quickly went viral on X, formerly known as Twitter, and it prompted a response from Cowboys star defensive end Micah Parsons, who was teammates with Lawrence for four seasons.

“This what rejection and envy look like! This some clown sh–!” Parsons said on X.

It took Lawrence less than an hour to respond.

“Calling me a clown won’t change the fact that I told the truth,” Lawrence said. “Maybe if you spent less time tweeting and more time winning, I wouldn’t have left.”

Lawrence and Parsons had a bumpy relationship throughout their time together in Dallas, according to Cowboys sources. While it was never an issue that crossed any known boundaries, there was a split in leadership in the defensive line room until Lawrence landed on the injured reserve in week five last season. It wasn’t until then that Parsons commanded the room.

Issues that started in the Cowboys locker room have now boiled over onto social media for the world to see after Lawrence’s departure.
