Philadelphia 76ers to sign former Boston Celtics forward to 10-day deal (report)

Oshae Brissett has found a new home in the NBA, albeit a temporary one. The former Celtics forward has agreed to a 10-day deal with the Philadelphia 76ers according to a report from Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer. Brissett had been playing with the Long Island Nets in the G-League since January since sitting out the start of the NBA season.

Brissett has a connection with Sixers coach Nick Nurse, who has worked with him previously on the Canadian national team. The 76ers are using a hardship exception to sign Brissett to a 10-day deal, which they were granted due to the number of injuries they have to their roster currently. Philadelphia has 12 players listed on the injury report for Friday’s game against the Pacers.

Brissett won a championship last year in Boston but elected to turn down his player option in order to seek out more opportunity elsewhere. He appeared in 55 games (one start), averaging 3.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game with Boston.

More enticing offers did not appear for Brissett on the free agent market this summer, which led to him taking some time off to begin the year before re-emerging in the G-League with the Long Island Nets. Brissett has appeared in 11 games with Long Island, averaging 12.1 points and 5.3 rebounds this year.
