The start of the new league year was an opportunity for all 32 teams to redevelop their rosters.
Some teams were able to fill in their biggest team needs. The Miami Dolphins weren't able to do this much at the beginning of free agency due to the limited salary cap space they had.
They lost some key veterans while maintaining some of their losses with value-free agent pickups. As a result, the Dolphins need to make a solid splash in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Dolphins have plenty of options they can do with No. 13 in the draft. The latest Athlon Sports' 2025 NFL Mock Draft has the Dolphins addressing their interior defensive line with Oregon defensive tackle Derrick Harmon.
In the last three seasons, Harmon has been an athletic, disruptive defensive tackle who can efficiently stop the run and create a solid pass rush. Harmon has accumulated 115 total tackles, 50 solo tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, six pass breakups, three fumble recoveries, and three forced fumbles in his three seasons as a starter.
The Dolphins have lost a lot of defensive leaders this off-season and in the previous off-season. One veteran's absence that made a significant difference was defensive tackle Christian Wilkins. Miami needs more run-stop support and efficient pass rush from the middle of the defensive line.
Harmon provides that solid base to be hard to push back at the line of scrimmage and he possesses an explosive, quick, and powerful first step to get that edge at the snap of the ball.
