Leicester City have frozen their season-ticket prices for next term but supporters will have to renew before officially knowing which division the club will be playing in.
City have announced that season tickets will remain at their current prices no matter which league they are in, with the cheapest seat at £404. This comes after season-ticket prices rose by around five per cent last summer.
But supporters must decide if they would like to renew before 5pm on Wednesday, April 9, more than six weeks before the end of the campaign and with City still in a fight for their Premier League future.
The early renewal period, which begins on Tuesday, March 18, is to accommodate the introduction of safe-standing at the King Power Stadium from next season.
It will cover 3,032 seats across four sections of the home end, with a further 2,532 safe-standing tickets to be offered to away fans.
Fans wanting to move to safe-standing positions can apply for a ballot, while those whose current seats are in the new safe-standing areas but wish to move can also do so. Those relocation periods will take place after the April 9 deadline.
Members who wish to apply for season tickets will be able to do so between April 16 and 24. For those that renew, digital tickets will be compulsory. City pushed fans towards digital tickets last term by charging supporters £25 for a physical season pass, a controversial scheme that saw the club change their initial stance and decide to donate the fees to charity.
Supporters will not get a choice this time. All tickets will be digital, but exemptions are made for under-16s, over-65s and supporters with a disability, with physical tickets available free of charge to those groups.
City chief executive Susan Whelan said: “These are three important decisions (on the price freeze, safe standing, and digital tickets) we’ve reached in collaboration with our supporters, demonstrating the value of the structured framework of engagement we have had in place since last summer.
“The input we have received through those channels has been passionate, insightful and constructive and I’m personally grateful to all of the fans that have participated in the process.
“I’d particularly like to thank the members of our Fan Advisory Board, who have supported us in processing that feedback in the context of the club’s wider position and shaping it into workable solutions.
“We understand and appreciate that there is further work for us to do in more effectively engaging with a greater number of supporters on a wider pool of topics.
“These latest developments, on three subjects we know are of great importance to our fans, are positive steps forward that we will aim to build upon in coming months and years.”
