Moyes named February’s Manager of the Month

David Moyes has been named the Premier League’s Manager of the Month for February.

The Everton boss remains unbeaten in eight top-flight games after picking up nine points from a possible 15 last month which included two victories.

Moyes secured wins over Leicester City and Crystal Palace alongside 2-2 draws with Manchester United and Liverpool in the final Goodison Park derby.

He beat off competition from several of his contemporaries including Liverpool head coach Arne Slot to claim the accolade for the 11th time in his career.

Only Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger have won the award more times than Moyes, who is now tied with Pep Guardiola as the third-highest recipient.

He said: “It’s been great being back in the building here.

“Everybody’s made me feel really welcome and obviously winning enough games to be awarded the Manager of the Month has been huge for us.

“For me to join a club and, near enough in my first month, get Manager of the Month is more to do with the commitment of the players, their attitude and the way they’ve worked. They’ve been fabulous, the players.

“I’m really thrilled because the names of the people who are up there are unbelievable coaches and managers.

“I think from my point of view, having the longevity and probably being in the Premier League for a long time, has given me probably more chances to win it.

“But to try to win it with the level of competition that there is in the Premier League – there are so many good coaches; there are so many good new young coaches on the field now that it’s a big challenge.”
