Rockets trade rumors: 15-time All-Star might have joined Houston

The Phoenix Suns initiated trade talks involving Kevin Durant before the Feb. 6 deadline, suggesting he could have landed with the Houston Rockets.

Before the February 6 trade deadline, three teams -- the Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, and Minnesota Timberwolves -- were interested in acquiring star forward Kevin Durant. However, recent information suggests there's a new contender.

According to ESPN's Tim MacMahon, the Phoenix Suns "initiated" talks with the Houston Rockets while exploring potential trade partners for the 15-time All-Star.

A source from the Suns mentioned to ESPN that they were evaluating "everything" as they assessed their position in the Western Conference standings. "When you're not winning the way you want, you've got to look at everything," the source said.

ESPN also reported that Durant and his agent, Rich Kleiman, would be consulted about any trade discussions involving him this summer.

KD has one season remaining on his contract and could sign a two-year, $122 million extension with any team that acquires him.

While Durant didn't want to move before the deadline, he reportedly expressed unhappiness about being involved in trade talks and is expected to be traded this offseason, according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst.

This season, the 36-year-old Durant is averaging 26.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game in 53 starts.
