Looking back to 20 years ago - when Town netted six in win over Forest

Today, we throwback to a Championship clash between the two sides when Joe Royle's entertainers put on a show as they hit Gary Megson's men for six at Portman Road in March 2005.

The Blues opening the scoring in the 27th minute when Jim Magilton sent in a corner from the left and Richard Naylor headed home.

Eight minutes later, Town doubled their lead when Matt Richards sent in a looping cross which was met by the head of Shefki Kuqi. His effort was half-saved by former Town loanee Paul Gerrard, but Ian Westlake was on hand to finish into the net.

Town ran riot after the break, making it 3-0 in the 51st minute when Darren Bent laid the ball off to Tommy Miller who fired home from 10 yards and celebrated with the corner flag, removing it from the ground and playing snooker with it, potting an invisible red.

Just after the hour mark the fourth Town goal was scored after Bent was fouled in the box by Wes Morgan and Miller stepped up to covert the spot kick for his 11th goal of the season.

The fifth goal came three minutes later with Bent once again involved, producing an opening which Fabian Wilnis headed against the bar, before Kuqi profited from the rebound to net his 16th goal of 2004/05 and celebrate with some press-ups.

The last goal of the game was scored by Bent, who finally got on the score sheet with a fine finish from 18 yards.

This was a superb performance from the Blues, who looked like scoring every time they went forward and continued their promotion push that campaign. However, they were to fall short in the end via the play-offs.

Let's hope for a similar showing in Suffolk tomorrow!!
