The [Buffalo Bills](https://www.buffalorumblings.com/) have signed safety Damar Hamlin to a one-year, $2 million deal, keeping the 26 year old in Buffalo for another season. Originally a sixth-round pick in the [2021 NFL Draft](https://www.sbnation.com/nfl-draft), Hamlin started his career as a backup and special teams contributor before working his way into a more prominent role last season when the Bills lost their two starting safeties. Hamlin took advantage, proving himself as a important piece of the Bills’ secondary.
Hamlin’s put together a solid 2024 campaign, finishing the season with 89 total tackles, (62 solo), along with two interceptions and five passes deflected. While he showed flashes of great play-making ability in 2024, he still has room to improve in key areas as he allowed 20 receptions and a 91.3 passer rating when targeted. His biggest challenge has been with tackling consistency, as he recorded 11 missed tackles last season — an area that the coaching staff will look to improve upon.
_Over the Cap_ listed Hamlin’s market value at $4.4 million and _Spotrac_ had him listed at $3.1 million. Whether Hamlin starts at safety again or provides depth at the position, Buffalo’s front office made another below-market-value move that could prove important for the 2025 season.
