Pittsburgh Steelers to host speedy running back on pre-draft visit

The Pittsburgh Steelers are hosting Tennessee running back Dylan Sampson on a pre-draft visit on Friday. Sampson ran for over 1400 yards at Tennessee this season, amassing twenty touchdowns. As a result, that type of production now has teams all in on him.

Sampson is the second known running back who will visit the Steelers, including Kansas State’s D.J. Giddens. Both players are expected to be third-round picks, so they make sense, given that Pittsburgh lacks a second-round pick after the DK Metcalf trade.

Sampson is one of three pre-draft visitors on Friday, including TCU wide receiver Savion Williams and Iowa DL Yahya Black. At the NFL Combine, Sampson had a 35-inch vertical and 10-foot-4-inch broad jump. On his pro day, Sampson ran a 4.42, a good enough time that upholds his status as one of the faster-running backs in the entire class.

The Steelers still have Jaylen Warren and Kenny Gainwell on the team, but are almost certain to look towards the running back position in the draft to add more to that room. tt
