Seahawks Interest in Cooper Kupp Gets Major Update

The Cooper Kupp sweepstakes are heating up in free agency, with several teams still vying for his signature as he nears a final decision. The Seattle Seahawks are one of those teams, and while they face quite a bit of competition, it sounds like they are still all-in on Kupp for the time being.

The Seahawks offense has faced quite a bit of turnover this offseason, particularly at wide receiver, as they traded DK Metcalf to the Pittsburgh Steelers and released Tyler Lockett. As a result, their interest in Kupp isn't too surprising, and earlier on Friday, they were viewed as one of the frontrunners for his services.

"Two teams very interested in signing free agent WR Cooper Kupp, according to league sources? The Seahawks and Cowboys. Kupp is expected to make his decision today," Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported.

While interest in Kupp is high, teams have been balking at his asking price, which is believed to be around the $15 million per year range. Seattle is not one of those teams, as they remain interested in Kupp and are intent on finding a way to keep him on the west coast.

"Seahawks have been firmly in the mix for Cooper Kupp as teams await his free agency plans, sources told Brady Henderson and me. Seattle has attempted to sell Kupp on a vision for his next NFL chapter, and Kupp has been in touch with members of the organization," Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported.

Kupp hauled in 67 passes for 710 yards and six touchdowns in 2024 with the Rams in just 12 games of action. Any team hoping to sign Kupp will be hoping he can turn back the clock and perform like he did in 2021, when he led the league in receptions (145), receiving yards (1,947) and touchdowns (16).

Should the Seahawks manage to land Kupp, they will have a new quarterback throwing passes to him after they traded Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders and signed Sam Darnold to a three-year, $100.5 million contract in free agency.
