John Collins To Be Re-Evaluated In Two Weeks

The Jazz announced the Collins injury with just one month, and 16 games left in the regular season.

The forward came down awkwardly on the ankle in the second half of the team’s loss on Wednesday and was quickly ruled out of the remainder of the game.

“John Collins suffered a left ankle sprain during the fourth quarter vs. Memphis on March 12,” the team said in a release. “He underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) yesterday which confirmed a left lateral ankle sprain. He will be re-evaluated in two weeks.”

The two-week timeline will keep Collins out for at least the next eight games, seven of which will be played in Salt Lake City.

The Jazz will then embark on a five-game road swing, before playing their final two home games on April 9 and 11.

The final day of the regular season is April 13 when the Jazz will be in Minnesota to face the Timberwolves.

Having lost their last seven games, the Jazz now sit at 15-41 on the season, and just one win ahead of the 14-51 Washington Wizards who own the worst record in the NBA.

Collins has been arguably the Jazz’s best player this season averaging 19.0 points and 8.2 rebounds while shooting 52 percent from the floor and 39 percent from three.
