Mohamed Salah has revealed that he calls his mother before every game.
Salah will play in his tenth major cup final as a Liverpool player this Sunday when the Reds take on Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final.
The Egyptian was one of the Reds’ most important players in the last round as he scored in the second leg to help Liverpool advance to their third Carabao Cup final in the last four seasons.
Salah, whose current contract at Liverpool expires this summer, recently revealed that winning the Premier League was his biggest motivation this season.
“The biggest motivation is to win the Premier League,” Salah said.
“Not even the Champions League. I always chose the Champions League; for seven years, I always said Champions League.”
“This is the first year I say the Premier League!”
His reason? That lost celebration in 2020.
“It was an incredible day, to be fair,” he said, recalling Liverpool’s Champions League parade.
“That’s why I’m really desperate to win the Premier League with the club now and have the same day as this one.”
Liverpool are already in a commanding position in the Premier League race and could win the title next month. So, with the league title almost in the bag for the Reds, who currently sit 15 points ahead of their closest challengers, Liverpool’s next opportunity to win a trophy this season is in the Carabao Cup.
The Reds are the competition’s current holders and could make it eleven League Cup wins if they defeat Newcastle on Sunday.

When asked the last person he would message before the final, Salah said:
“I’ll say my mum. I call her on the phone all the time. I think since I started my career I call her everyday before a game. Before that, on the way to the stadium, I always call her. ”
Asked what his mother does when he calls, Salah responded:
“She gives me a prayer and wishes me good luck.”
