Colts Add Offensive Weapon to Help Anthony Richardson (Or Daniel Jones) in NFL Mock Draft

On Thursday, the Indianapolis Colts signed quarterback Daniel Jones to push Anthony Richardson in his third season with the team. The veteran signal-caller also had a turbulent start to his NFL career, leading the New York Giants to a 12-25 record over his first three seasons.

So any improvement made to Indy's offense could help the development of either signal-caller as they compete to be the Colts' starting quarterback.

In an NFL mock draft from FOX Sports' NFL reporter David Helman, he projects the Colts will select Michigan tight end Colston Loveland with the 14th pick.

Indianapolis has had mixed results from the tight-end position for several years. Kylen Granson led the position last season with 14 receptions for 182 yards. No Colts tight end had produced more than 50 receptions since 2018, when Eric Ebron caught 66 passes for 750 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Last season for the Wolverines, Loveland had 56 receptions for 582 yards and five touchdowns in 10 games.

In his scouting report, the NFL combine analyst Lance Zierlein described Loveland as a "talented young tight end with the athletic ability and ball skills to become an elite talent as a pass catcher. Colston plays the game like a big wideout, capable of separating from man coverage and making plays on all three levels."

On the Colts, Loveland would relieve pressure on outside receivers Michael Pittman Jr. and Alec Pierce, giving Indianapolis a big target over the middle and in the red zone. However, the lingering question hanging over this franchise this offseason will be whether Richardson or Jones will lead this offense.

In his latest mock draft, Luke Easterling projects that the Los Angeles Chargers will draft Loveland at No. 22.
