Omar Berrada provides insight into key Ruben Amorim relationship, drops significant hint on Man Utd transfer plans

Manchester United chief executive Omar Berrada has willingly provided an insight into the club’s future planning and whether or not Ruben Amorim will have money to spend in the summer transfer window to strengthen his squad.

Ineos have already made lots of changes at Manchester United since Sir Jim Ratcliffe became co-owner over a year ago. Some of them have been incredibly difficult decisions to make, causing unrest within the fanbase, which is why communication from the club is important.

There have been multiple big interviews coming out of the club this week, especially since United announced plans for a new stadium, expected to take five years to build.

It led to further questions from fans who wonder how the club will be able to afford a new 100,000 capacity stadium while investing in Amorim’s squad.

Moving to a new stadium is likely to take a hit on the club’s bleak financial situation. There’s a lot to fix on and off the pitch and fans are eager to find out how Ineos will manage it all.

Omar Berrada reveals key Ruben Amorim relationship

The Reds may be poised to record their lowest ever finish in the Premier League era with Amorim struggling to win football matches consistently, but United’s head coach has the backing of the hierarchy.

Omar Berrada has confirmed the club and Amorim are working together to plan ahead when it comes to recruitment for United’s first-team. That explains why they have prioritised younger players in the transfer market after signing Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven in January.

Speaking to TNT Sports before United’s round of 16 decider against Real Sociedad, Berrada revealed that they keep regular contact with Amorim, saying: “We speak to Ruben [Amorim] very frequently.

“Ruben has a good relationship with Jason Wilcox. They both share the vision of how they want to see the team playing.”

This begs a question or two about whether Erik ten Hag saw eye-to-eye with Jason Wilcox, who arrived at the club following Ratcliffe’s partial takeover.

The head coach and technical director must be on the same page and it’s encouraging to hear that is the case with Amorim and Wilcox.

Berrada convinced Amorim will have transfer funds

In the same interview, Amorim confirmed that Amorim will have cash to spend regardless of whether the club qualify for Europe of not.

United’s season is dependent on winning the Europa League as they sit in the bottom half of the Premier League. It’s the only route back in the Champions League and a great chance to salvage a disappointing campaign for the club.

“It is about planning properly for the summer transfer window and having a clear idea of what players we want to bring in,” he continued. “We’re making some big efforts to get us in the best financial position. Even if we’re outside of Europe – I think we will be in a position to invest in the squad.

“Our ambition is to win tonight and win the Europa League and be in the Champions League which is where I think we belong.”
