If last season's loss in the AFC Championship Game to the Kansas City Chiefs was any indication, the Buffalo Bills know they need to have all three phases of their team playing the best they possibly can come playoff time.
One way or another, all three phases have failed them in their run of playoff exits.
The organization is hoping one underrated free agent signing will help them move past those devastating losses, though.
Buffalo agreed to terms Thursday night with former first-round wide receiver and return specialist Laviska Shenault to a one-year deal. The move comes days after signing Joshua Palmer to a three-year contract of his own.
Shenault was a former second-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars and put up a combined 1,200 receiving yards in his first two seasons with the team. It wasn't until the Jaguars traded him to Carolina where Shenault was even attempted to be used as a return specialist.
2024 was the first time Shenault showed a consistent promise as a returner taking one back for a touchdown.

There's nothing wrong with the Bills taking a flier on certain individuals and seeing what they can do with them during training camp and their offseason program. Shenault may not even amount to much, but his signing could provide Buffalo with a quality returner and seldom-used offensive weapon next season.
At the very least they'll need all hands on deck if they want to knock off the Chiefs.
And a flier on a failed former top prospect isn't the worst thing in the world.
