Barcelona star Pau Cubarsí has this week pointed towards a pair of Blaugrana legends as his footballing role models.
Defender Cubarsí is for his part of course in the midst of another stellar campaign to date.
Now fully established as one of the first names on the team sheet at Barcelona, the Spanish international is widely considered to be not only one of the game’s standout young defenders, but standout defenders full stop.
Despite being only 18 years of age, Cubarsí plays the game with a remarkable poise and calmness, excelling on both sides of the ball.
All of a Blaugrana persuasion, in turn, will no doubt be interested to hear that their side’s defensive prodigy models much of his game on the exploits of two former members of the backline at the Camp Nou.
Drawn on his role models during an interview with Marca this week, Cubarsí explained:
“My role model? Piqué and Puyol. I always watch them. I try to be like them.”
Cubarsí: “Barça – Madrid en Champions? Sería una buena final”
