In addition to being 75 years old and performing like he’s 25 years old, [Billy Joel](https://americansongwriter.com/tag/Bill-Joel/) will accomplish another enormous feat on his 2025 summer tour. Joel will hit the road for his summer tour tomorrow, March 15, in Toronto. After that, Joel will head back home to New York and make history by performing in all three of New York City’s major stadiums.
The stadiums in question are Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, Metlife Stadium (technically in New Jersey, but serves as the home of the New York Football Giants and New York Jets), and Citi Field in Queens. This might seem like a fairly reasonable touring schedule given the proximity of the three stadiums. However, Billy Joel is the first artist to ever play all three stadiums in one summer. Joel will specifically visit and perform at all three of these venues during a month-long period.
Regarding his scheduled shows, Joel told _[Billboard](https://nypost.com/2025/02/25/entertainment/billy-joel-making-history-at-nyc-summer-stadium-concerts-with-triple-play/)_: “I’m looking forward to playing these iconic stadiums this summer – each holds personal significance to me. There’s nothing like the energy of the crowds in New York, and sharing a stage with my friends, Rod Stewart, Sting, and Stevie Nicks, whose music always inspires me, is extremely rewarding.”
Billy Joel’s 2025 summer tour comes nearly a year after he ended his 10-year residency at New York’s most prolific venue, Madison Square Garden. During those 10 years, Joel played at MSG every single month except in June of 2017 and in December of 2022. He also took a year-and-a-half break in 2020 due to the fact that the pandemic was at its peak.
Regardless of those missed dates, Billy Joel performed 104 shows, sold 1.9 million tickets, and grossed $266.7 million. The residency is one of the most iconic in music history and will likely remain that way as it will surely be hard to match.
Besides setting a new record, Joel’s tour will run for seven months and end on November 1 at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida. Even though Joel’s tour will transpire mostly in North America, he will perform in Europe as he has two shows planned in the U.K. One of those shows will be in Edinburg, Scotland, and the other will be in Liverpool, England.
