According to a report, the Oklahoma City Thunder are under investigation for possibly violating the NBA’s player participation policy during their win on March 7 over the Portland Trail Blazers.
ESPN’s Shams Charania reported the news Friday.
The Thunder sat all five starters during their 107-89 home victory over the Blazers.
Sidelined were Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (rest), Chet Holmgren (leg), Jalen Williams (wrist), Luguentz Dortz (knee) and Isaiah Hartenstein (nasal).
All but Holmgren played in the team’s 120-103 win on March 5 at Memphis. All five starters played March 9 during a 127-103 at home over Denver.
The participation policy was adopted prior to the 2023-24 season to promote player participation.
The policy was implemented to make it more difficult for teams to sit out star players who aren’t legitimately injured or missing for specified personal reasons.
