Newcastle United are on the brink of history.
On Sunday, Newcastle United contest the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool at Wembley, desperately looking to make amends.
Indeed, while reaching the final two years was some achievement during Eddie Howe’s first full season in charge, his side failed to show up that day as Newcastle lost 2-0 to Manchester United in 2023.
While overcoming the Reds won’t be easy, Howe’s side always have a chance with Alexander Isak in the team.
Isak has been tipped to cause Virgil van Dijk problems in the Carabao Cup final, having scored three goals in five games against the Merseyside giants.
Liverpool are interested in signing Isak, albeit there is little suggestion the Sweden star is actively looking to leave St James’ Park and still has over three years to run on his contract.
Naturally, however, Isak was asked about his future when speaking ahead of Sunday’s trip to Wembley.

Alexander Isak responds to Newcastle United contract question just before Carabao Cup final
Newcastle know they could get huge money for Isak but it would make little sense to sell him.
In fact, Newcastle’s owners have some hugely ambitious plans for the club and cashing in on him would be counter-intuitive to that.

Still, it would be nice to see his contract situation sorted. While he still has years to run on his existing deal, Isak’s agents want a new contract at Newcastle.
Frankly, the forward deserves one. He’s been excellent since the moment he arrived but has really stepped up now and should be rewarded for that.
Asked about the prospect of signing a new contract at a pre-match press conference on Friday, Isak said: “I’ve said I’m not really thinking about the summer, but yes, that’ll probably be a talking point once the season is finished.
“We will really see because no talks have been held yet.”

Alexander Isak injury latest ahead of Carabao Cup final
Thankfully for Newcastle, it appears their star man will be fit for the Wembley showpiece.
Howe confirmed Isak came off on Monday against West Ham due to tiredness, allaying any fears the superstar Swede had suffered what would have been a cruel injury ahead of such a huge game.
With Isak in the team, anything can happen. He really is that good a player and has a strong record against Liverpool on an individual basis at least.
Seemingly fully fit and raring to go, it’s time for Isak to make himself a Newcastle legend.
