Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are just two clubs said to be looking at Crystal Palace transfers.
Crystal Palace face a fight to hold on to key first team players this summer with an abundance of rumours of transfer interest from Premier League rivals including Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.
The south London club has earned a reputation for scouting the best EFL target and building players into fully fledged top flight stars before selling on for a profit. Last summer, Michael Olise completed a move to German giants Bayern Munich for around £50 million and there was plenty of talk around the future of Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze too.
As ever, the opening of the transfer window this summer will kickstart rumours again but transfer talk hasn’t even stopped with the market shut for business. Manchester United have been told to make a move for talisman Mateta while Chelsea have been said to hold an interest in Daniel Munoz and Marc Guehi remains a target for Tottenham Hotspur.
Crystal Palace know when to sell and when to fight and keep hold of players. The club are in ‘advanced talks’ over a contract extension for Will Hughes while Football Insider report that the Eagles have no intention of selling Adam Wharton come the end of the season.
With so many transfer stories and links, it’s hard to predict what will happen at Crystal Palace this summer. LondonWorld turns to the AI of ChatGPT to imagine who might stay and who might leave the club.
Eberechi Eze
ChatGPT believes that Eze is ‘open to leaving’ Crystal Palace and is aware of the £68 million release clause in his contract. However, it is believed that the club will fight to keep hold of the attacking midfielder.
The AI said: “Given these circumstances, while Eze has expressed openness to a new challenge and a release clause exists that could facilitate his departure, Crystal Palace's firm valuation and lack of formal offers suggest that a move is not imminent. However, with the release clause set to reactivate in the coming months, the summer transfer window may see increased activity concerning Eze's future.”
Adam Wharton
There’s no shortage of clubs lining up a move for Adam Wharton this summer, according to AI. Real Madrid, Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City are all named as potential suitors and that matches recent reports in the press.
However, ChatGPT believes that it is ‘improbable’ that the former Blackburn Rovers man will leave the club. It is added: “In conclusion, whether Wharton should leave Crystal Palace this summer really comes down to his personal ambitions and his readiness to face the challenges at a bigger club.
“If he values playing regularly and continuing his development, staying at Crystal Palace might be the best option. If he feels ready for the challenge of competing at a top European club, a move could accelerate his growth.”
Daniel Munoz
Given the reports of a Chelsea summer swoop for Munoz, it’s the Blues interest that we put to ChatGPT. It was admitted that the player “could offer valuable competition and depth in the right-back position” to Enzo Maresca at Stamford Bridge.
It is added that the contract signed by the defender in January 2024, keeping him at the club until 2027, is set to be a long enough deal to make that transfer ‘unlikely’. Chelsea may have to look elsewhere to bolster their defence.
Marc Guehi
The AI believes that it is ‘unlikely’ that Marc Guehi leaves Crystal Palace this summer but advises that the Eagles may want to consider selling the player. ChatGPT said: “If a substantial offer comes in, especially if it's in the region of £70 million (as some reports have suggested from clubs like Tottenham), selling Guéhi could be financially beneficial for Crystal Palace. The money could then be reinvested into strengthening other areas of the squad or securing future talent.
“His market value is high, and this summer might be a peak moment for Palace to cash in. However, selling a player of his quality could leave a significant gap in their defence.”
Jean-Philippe Mateta
Finally, Paul Merson has led the calls for Manchester United to move for Jean-Philippe Mateta this summer and ChatGPT isn’t sure that would be a good move for the Red Devils.
The programme said: “Jean-Philippe Mateta could be a decent signing for Manchester United if the club is looking for a relatively low-risk, low-cost depth option in attack. His physicality and aerial presence would be useful as a backup forward, but he is unlikely to be a transformative signing for a club like United.
“If the club is aiming for immediate improvement in their attack and has limited funds, he might be worth considering. However, if United’s ambition is to sign a long-term, world-class striker, they should probably look elsewhere.”
In other news, this is why we believe Crystal Palace should be seething as Oliver Glasner was ignored by England on Friday.
