Gary Lineker has suggested that a move to Aston Villa has worked wonders for Marcus Rashford following a difficult time at Manchester United.

The 27-year-old, who lost his spot in the team under Ruben Amorim, left Old Trafford last month to join Villa on loan for the rest of the season. He has so far assisted four goals in nine games for Unai Emery's side and the team has lost just once since arrival.

Having rediscovered his form at Villa Park, Rashford earned a call-up to the England team. Rashford had been dropped by former manager Gareth Southgate for the European Championships in 2024.

His last appearance in a Three Lions shirt came in March 2024, the 1-0 friendly defeat to Brazil at Wembley. After being named in the England squad for the World Cup qualifying double-header with Latvia and Albania, Rashford wrote on his Instagram stories: "Never stop believing. Can't wait to get started," followed by the England flag and praying emoji.

Rashford's recent redemption leaves further question marks over United. Lineker meanwhile, has his own theory over the winger's form.

"Rashford looks like he’s enjoying himself and looks sharp and dangerous every time I see him play, and very creative – so it’s all coming together," the Match of the Day present said on the Rest is Football podcast.

His former teammates at United have kept a close eye on his spell at Villa and some have even shown their support on social media. On Wednesday, Rashford celebrated Villa's qualification to the quarter-finals of the Champions League by posting some pictures on Instagram.

The post was then 'liked' by Joshua Zirkzee, Diogo Dalot, Amad, Bruno Fernandes, Christian Eriksen, Ethan Wheatley and Alejandro Garnacho.
