Everton are readying an offer to convince Christian Norgaard to join the club upon the expiry of his current contract at Brentford in June.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 31-year-old is seen as a key target for the Toffees.

David Moyes is also said to be an admirer of the player who would add quality and further experience to his midfield as he targets improvements this summer.

Football Insider that Everton will push to sign Norgaard and believe he would tick a lot of boxes for Moyes – something Brown also echoed.

However, the Bees could still trigger the option to extend his deal by one year and are currently weighing up where he fits in their long-term plans.

The Denmark international has started 24 of their 28 Premier League games so far this season, missing just four games through injuries and suspension.

Everton plot Christian Norgaard swoop ahead of summer deals

Moyes is planning to strengthen his squad this summer when on top of a new midfielder, the addition of a winger is a priority for Everton.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United and also worked closely with Moyes at West Ham, insisted that

“He’s a better player than he gets credit for,” he told Football Insider.

“He’s deinitelty grown on me, every time I see him he’s impressive, and I think he would be a good fit for Everton under Moyesey.

“He would add a bit of quality to that midfield which we’ve seen from James Garner since Moyes came in, he’s not quite as workman-like as the rest of their options.

“But he has got that physicality about him as well, so I think it’s a good fit.

“If he’s available on a free, I expect they’re getting an offer ready to convince him to join.

“A lot of it will depend on Brentford and what they do, though.

“He’s been such a key player for them while they’ve been in the Premier League and I expect they’ll want to keep him around.

“If they don’t, for whatever reason, Everton would be a good move.”

David Moyes holds internal talks about Richarlison deal

Moyes is plotting an ambitious summer transfer window, with a number of key positions and players on his radar after a successful start to his return to Goodison Park.

Brown told Football Insider that Everton want to re-sign Richarlison from Tottenham and Moyes is set to speak to his staff about the potential deal.

However, Football Insider revealed on 13 March that while he would be open to the move, Everton will find it difficult to sign Richarlison given the finances involved.

Interest from Saudi Pro League clubs has also lingered after they missed out on his signature last year as they failed to agree a deal with Spurs.
