A new study, published in _Nature Digital Magazine_, has supported the reliability of Amsterdam MedTech company Easee’s remote refraction tests as an alternative to traditional in-person eye exams.
Researchers analysed data from 14,680 healthy eyes between the ages of 18 and 45, all with high visual acuity and low-to-moderate refractive errors. The mean difference between remote refraction results and conventional prescriptions for myopic prescriptions was reportedly just 0.01 diopters.
Dr Robert Wisse, ophthalmologist and lead author of the paper, said: ‘Our study shows how remote refraction can help streamline care delivery, reduce societal burdens, and close crucial gaps in eye care worldwide.’
